NLMK Group, a global steel company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Cornelius Louwrens as CEO NLMK Europe Strip Products (which includes NLMK La Louvière, NLMK Strasbourg and NLMK Manage Service), all part of NLMK Belgium Holdings (NBH)). Previously Cornelius held the position of CTO NLMK International.

NLMK Clabecq, the leading Belgian producer of thin premium steel plates and a company of NLMK Group, has embarked on a 30 million euro project to upgrade its rolling mill, continuing to position itself as a key player in the thin-gauge steel plate market and in particular quenched and tempered steel plates.

NLMK La Louvière, an NLMK Group company and one of the leading strip product manufacturers in Belgium, has begun the pre-assembly of three new finishing mill stands for its hot strip mill upgrade that will enable the company to expand the production of thinner, stronger and more environmentally friendly steel for customers in the EU.

Since the start of system testing in April, stock turnover for the most in-demand feedstock product (steel slabs) improved by 30%.

NLMK DanSteel, NLMK Group’s plant in Denmark, has supplied its heavy plate for the Wind Float Atlantic project. Wind Float Atlantic is the first semi-submersible floating wind farm in the world located off the north coast of Portugal. NLMK DanSteel’s high-quality steel heavy plates are used in the production of floating platforms and foundations.

At NLMK Lipetsk, start-up is underway at a new facility for the production of steel products, a continuous casting machine (CCM-9).
