Energy-efficient operations are an important competitive advantage; and the management of NLMK Group has embraced its responsibility for providing resource- and informational support; and for establishing the conditions necessary in order to achieve the goals and objectives of NLMK Group’s Energy Policy" in line with the guiding principles of energy saving and increased energy efficiency.

The results of NLMK Group’s energy saving and energy efficiency measures are available to the general public and are updated regularly.

NLMK was the first among Russian steel companies to be certified as compliant with the requirements of the international ISO 150001 Energy Management Systems standard, confirming the efficiency of NLMK’s efforts to introduce best available technologies to optimize energy consumption and make responsible use of energy resources.

In 2014, NLMK Group companies Altai-Koks, Stoilensky, VIZ-Steel, NSMMZ and NLMK Metalware passed a certification audit; and in 2015 they, together with Novolipetsk (as part of a recertification), confirmed their compliance with Energy Management System ISO 50001 requirements; while Stagdok, Dolomit and NLMK Kaluga all successfully passed their Energy Management System certification audits.

As a result, all of NLMK Group’s main Russian companies hold valid certificates of compliance with ISO 50001 international standard requirements; and take a systematic approach to energy generation and consumption and to improving the energy efficiency of operations.
