NLMK Production System Manager for NLMK Europe Strip

I started out as a Process Engineer in the Stripping zone of NLMK La Louvière in 2011. A fire damaged the stripping lines in 2013 and I was entrusted with supervising the reconstruction of Stripping 1. This project required an investment of € 35 M. After the reconstruction, I held the position of Head of Production and Maintenance for the Stripping zone. In 2015, the NLMK group launched the NPS methodology on the site of NLMK La Louvière and I spearheaded the implementation of this approach for continuous improvement. I am currently implementing this methodology in Strip Products, i.e. in La Louvière, Manage & Strasbourg. I was had the opportunity to quickly climb the ranks within the company, both in a technical and managerial capacity. The Group has confidence in young people and enables them to develop their skills.

My daily work involves helping the company to improve its performance using NPS tools. My team and I work with engineers and operators to analyse and solve problems using the appropriate improvement tools. I work with around a dozen people on implementing the NPS. This job is fulfilling as we contribute to improving the company’s performance. My job is varied. I have an overview of the entire business and I am in contact with all of the departments.

The atmosphere is very good. There is a good rapport within my team. Each member of the team is assigned to a specific zone. In the field, we provide guidance with regard to change management, but the comments are positive, particularly when the results are positive. The NLMK group urges us to do the most with the available equipment. Everyone has to give their all. In addition, it does not hesitate to invest when required. We receive high quality support from our colleagues in Russia to support the implementation of the NPS.
