Head of Finishing Zone - Cylinder warehouse - Coil winder

My life in the steel industry began in October 2000. In 2007, I joined NLMK Clabecq as a Process Engineer at the rolling mill. I contributed to the commissioning of the MULPIC, a controlled cooling and direct quenching plant. I then joined the hot rolling mill Process team in 2009 at NLMK La Louvière. The job involved implementing SAP in the maintenance department. I then joined the cold rolling mill Process team. I am currently the head of the Finishing zone — Cylinder warehouse & hot rolling mill coil winder.

Our job at La Louvière involves transforming the slabs from Lipetsk (Russia) into coils. In particular, I manage operations for everything that takes place between the coil box and shipping. This company is a great adventure as we have to act as the link between the men and the machine. Our challenge involves delivering the right products at the right time. I am also responsible for ensuring that conversion costs in the facilities are reduced. My team comprises around sixty people. Much like a football team, we all have a part to play to ensure that our facilities run smoothly. I am in contact with all of the departments. Everyone involved contributes to the whole, much like the workings of a clock. Everyone must be able to improve themselves. We have challenges for the future, in particular the organisation of the maintenance department.

The NLMK group contributes its industrial and financial strength to our site. We buy its slabs to produce our coils. NLMK La Louvière also complements NLMK Clabecq’s commercial offer; the two sites complement each other. There are many possible synergies between the sites.
