NLMK Belgium Holdings expands renewable energy coverage with the integration of DanSteel
With plate mills in Belgium and Italy, NLMK Belgium Holdings (‘NBH’) expands its EU Plate Division with the integration of a Danish NLMK Dansteel (‘Dansteel’). The deal establishes NBH as a leading supplier of premium steel plate products for the wind-energy segment in Europe, enabling NBH to contribute to global efforts for the transition to a less carbon-intensive society. Following EU merger approval of 11th October, the integration of NLMK DanSteel into NBH has now been formally concluded.
The consolidation of DanSteel extends the footprint of the NBH Plate Division to three plate production facilities in Europe. DanSteel has a strategic port location in Denmark and, through continuous investments, is reputed in the steel market as a key supplier of XXL dimensioned, wide, and thick heavy plates.
NBH is a Belgium-based joint venture between SOGEPA (a Belgian investment fund owned by the Walloon region) and NLMK group, comprising steel production-, sales- and service centers companies across Europe. The addition of DanSteel leads NBH to offering one of the widest plate product portfolios in Europe and globally for customers active in shipbuilding, civil engineering, yellow goods, mining, lifting, transport, and wind energy.
