With plate mills in Belgium and Italy, NLMK Belgium Holdings (‘NBH’) expands its EU Plate Division with the integration of a Danish NLMK Dansteel (‘Dansteel’). The deal establishes NBH as a leading supplier of premium steel plate products for the wind-energy segment in Europe, enabling NBH to contribute to global efforts for the transition to a less carbon-intensive society. Following EU merger approval of 11th October, the integration of NLMK DanSteel into NBH has now been formally concluded.

The deal will establish NBH as a leading supplier of premium steel plate products for the wind-energy segment in Europe, enabling NBH to contribute to global efforts for the transition to a less carbon-intensive society. The transaction has been submitted for EU merger control approval.

NLMK DanSteel, NLMK Group’s Denmark site, is expanding its range of weather-resistant steel plates that are used in the production of bridge steel structures, adding ten grades with a yield strength of up to 460 MPa and a thickness of up to 100 mm to the previously mastered steel grades with a yield strength of 355 MPa and a thickness of up to 80 mm. The new grades are on average 30% stronger than their previous counterparts, ensuring high welding quality and crack resistance at low temperatures
